Test Match Debut Under his Brother Captaincy. Zimbabwe slow left armerWellington Masakadza made his Test debut under the captaincy of his elder brother. He won his first test cap in a rare overseas victory for Zimbabwe in Sylhet in 2018. His brother Hamilton Masakadza was skippered in this test match. The first ever instance was in the first ever test match at Melbourne in 1876-77.
Australian Captain Dave Gregory led his side in a historic test match. His brother Edward James Gregory was also part of this test match.  In the first inning, Ned Gregory was out on zero, and 11 in the second inning. The 2ndinstance happened in Durban in 1913-14 when Dan Taylor made his test debut for South Africa, captained by his younger brother Herbie Taylor.
The third instance took place in 1933-34 when CK Nayudu (Cottari Kanakaiya Nayudu) captained the Indian side against England at Calcutta. His brother CS Nayudu (Cottari Subbanna Nayudu) also made his test debut in this match. Therefore, in the next season(1934-35) Rolph Grant (Rolph Stewart Grant) made his debut for West Indies, under his brother Jackie Grant (George Copeland Grant) in the 1st Test vs England at Bridgetown 1935.
After that, another instance happened in Karachi in 1976-77. New Zealand Murray Parker made his test debut under the captaincy of his younger brother John’s Parker vs Pakistan in the third test match. Pakistan Zulfiqar Ahmed made his debut against India in Lucknow in1952-53. In a team captained by his brother-in-law AH Kardar, while DavidHolford’s skipper for his first Test, for West Indies against England at OldTrafford in 1966, was his cousin, Garry Sobers. 
It turns out this was the eighth instance of someone making his Test debut captained by his brother. The next two instances involved Arjuna Ranatunga, who was Sri Lanka’s captain when Dammika Ranatunga won his first cap, against Australia in Brisbane in1989-90. His younger brother Sanjeeva Ranatunga debuted against Pakistan in Kandy in 1994-95. Arjuna Ranatunga was also skippered in which his brother, Nishantha Ranatunga, played his first one-day international, against Zimbabwe in Sharjah in 1992-93.
