5 4 1024x532 Lotus Lake
Indeed Lotus Lake is a marvelous natural surprise in Thailand. The pink flower Lake is so popular in the rice farming region and is about 45 km southeast of the Udon Thani ring road, at Lake Nong Han on the banks of Ban Diam, in the Kumphawadpi Reserve.
The lake covers a large area of about 68 square kilometers and is 15 km long and 5 km at the widest point. The wetlands remain mainly hidden by tall elephant grasses that belie the expanses of water lying beyond them. This is notorious for the most part only by the local villagers. They venture out to fish and collect snails and lotus stalks for use in the preparation of their daily meals.
The Lotus Lake is widespread due to pink and crimson red flowers blooming in the low season between November and the end of February. The flowers start to bloom in October just after the rainy season and reaching at full bloom in December. The surroundings of the lake transformed millions of lotus flowers stretched across 600 square acres area in every direction just like the hot pink horizon.
The Red Lotus Sea is recognized as the world’s second strangest lake by Travel & Leisure. Furthermore, another feature that makes this lake so attractive is when you see a number of various birds flying around the boats and over lake gives you pleasure.
There might be three to four birds darting across the front of the boat and darting back in the opposite direction. They may chase you and hover till the end of you’re journey even when the boat comes to a stop.
If you want to see Lotus Lake then the best time is 6:00 am until 10:00 am. The best displays remain when the sun is not bearing down on them. The limpid waters may only be visited on a wooden boat and millions of startling flamingo pink lotus flowers dances above the crystalline waters of the lotus sea.
These stunning wetlands are home to more than 80 species including rare birds, grey heron, purple heron, black kite, Brahminy Kite, and cotton pygmy-goose. You can easily say the land of Lotus flower, because seeds and stem may both be eaten. Moreover, delicious foods also entice you to taste them, especially spicy salads, lime-bathed fish, and fresh meat dishes, which are favorites among the Thais.
