It is well across the Air River and approximately five kilometers south of the locality of Beech Forest. The falls’ elevation is 1,030 feet above sea level and ranges between 148-161 feet in height. The waterfall flows down from a massive height, producing a breathtaking sight as it plunges into the Aire River below.

Hopetoun Falls is near the Apollo Bay Beech Forest Road, around four kilometers south of the Beauchamp Falls turnoff and approximately 20 kilometers northwest of the coastal town of Apollo Bay. The falls, surrounded by lush temperate rainforest, are a favorite destination for nature enthusiasts, photographers, and people seeking calm in the midst of natural beauty.

Hopetoun Waterfalls was certainly one of the more pleasing waterfalls. That had a healthy flow and the rainforest setting was misty, green, and lush. Furthermore, to allow ample access to tourists, extra attention has been given to preserving the natural characteristics of Hopetoun Falls.

The Hopetoun Falls have a large set of well-built and maintained stairs that lead down a natural patio to a viewing platform very close to the foot of the waterfall. Hopetoun Falls plunges 30 meters in a classic rectangular shape. There are countless visitors who come every year to look at its natural beauty. This vantage point provides an up-close view of the falls, with the sound of flowing water and a chilly mist in the air contributing to an immersive experience.

This stunning waterfall is part of a larger network of natural attractions within Great Otway National Park, making it a must-see for anyone visiting the area. Hopetoun Falls is open year-round, although the best time to come is after a rainstorm when the water flow is at its most magnificent.

When you see it this fall, you’ll realize the amazing beauty of the waterfall, which would be a great place for a picnic. From Lavers Hill, follow the Colac-Lavers Hill Road east until you see a turn-off to the right to Hopetoun Falls and Beauchamp Falls.

Then, after a short distance down this road, there is another junction where you will need to turn right to continue on to Hopetoun Falls car park, which is signed from here.

The surrounding area is lush green with ferns, moss-covered boulders, and towering trees, adding to the calm and almost otherworldly mood of the stunning point.
