The Most Promising TV Shows Airing On HBO Max in 2022
893
The streaming era has advanced massively in the past 10 years, to the point where HBO Max has found its footing. Apple TV+ has such a sizable budget for stars that you just have to be aware of what they have in the works, and Hulu, not staying far behind, is riding a wave of true stories with shows like The Dropout, Pam & Tommy, or even the comedic series Reboot.
And that’s not even taking into account top-tier cable programs like AMC or classic TV prestige powerhouses like the original HBO. In essence, we have a long, never-ending list of TV shows and movies to binge-watch by subscribing to the DIRECTV Ultimate package here at https://www.buytvinternetphone.com/directv/stream
We’re here to make sure you only watch shows that are worthy of your time. There are sometimes sweeping tragedies that might end up making you cry. The action might be used at other times. Superheroes may be involved at different times. Hell, sometimes it might even be classic sitcoms that don’t require much thought and are easygoing but will make you laugh out loud.
There are many new shows to keep up with, just like there were some nerve-wracking ones in 2021, like The White Lotus, Squid Game, or even Money Heist. A few of these series carried over from the previous year; we are counting Station Eleven and Yellowjackets, even though they debuted last year but concluded in 2022. A few of them are now airing, and the rest are all shows that we either know for sure will be coming this year or may assume will be.
Station Eleven
We’re counting Station Eleven even though it premiered in 2021. The entire cast is spectacular, but standout performers include the beautiful Matilda Lawler, the handsome Mackenzie Davis, and the oh-so-dashing Himesh Patel. Although there are times when it seems like the show is dragging a bit too much, you must sit tight and keep watching because everything will be worth it in the end.
Peacemaker
Peacemaker is a Hard-R, hyperviolent, superhero adventure-packed show that is set in a well-established superhero universe. It is also a component of what we love about The Boys and the Disney+ series in the MCU. The Suicide Squad, from which Peacemaker is a direct spinoff, introduced John Cena’s titular Peacemaker. We may not see Batman or Superman in the show, but they, along with their friends, are regularly referenced.
The cast is thoroughly engaging and keeps you glued to your sofa. Writer and director James Gunn does a fantastic job adapting his world to different media. Even without him, Danielle Brooks from Orange is the New Black, Jennifer Holland as the returning Harcourt, and Freddie Stroma as the completely bonkers Vigilante—who is, of course, a vigilante—are additional standouts.
Death Under Our Flag
The television show is partially inspired by a true story. It follows a nobleman named Rhys Darby of Flight of the Conchords fame as he leaves his privileged life to join the pirates at sea. He encounters Blackbeard while traveling (Taika Waititi).
The show boasts well-developed characters across its cast, and its plot makes you bite your nails in anticipation, wanting to know everything about what will happen in the very next scene—as if you needed any more convincing. We eagerly anticipate Season 2 of Death Under Our Flag. You can sign up for the DIRECTV Premier package and watch it easily.
Minx
HBO Max’s famous TV show Minx is the opposite of HBO’s Winning Time. Whereas Winning Time sort of focuses on the messy “boys club”-style shenanigans that helped the Los Angeles Lakers succeed in the 1980s, the new Minx tells a tale demonstrating that it wasn’t all excess and misogyny. Ophelia Lovibond and Jake Johnson’s tale of how they founded a pornographic magazine in the 1980s using the female gaze is amusing and crude, despite viewing things through a very progressive prism.
The Last Bit
There are a lot more shows and movies airing on HBO Max that have yet to be released this year, so keep an eye on your favorites so you don’t miss out on any!
