Tips for Living Clean and Green

It is well known that our brains are extremely sensitive to environmental toxins and stresses. The UltraMind Solution emphasizes living clean and green. These tips will help you care for your health and the environment at the same time. The sustainability of our own health is intimately related to the sustainability of the planet. Changing small things every day can have a big impact on our communities, our planet, and ourselves over time.
There are four steps to living a clean and green lifestyle.
  • Make sure you drink clean water.
  • Chemicals and metals should be kept to a minimum.
  • Make sure your body fluids are moving.
  • Electropollution and electromagnetic radiation should be reduced.

1. Make sure you drink clean water.

Every day you are on the program (and every day for the rest of your life), you should consume at least six to eight 8-ounce glasses of clean, filtered water. Water is important to detoxify the body, which is one reason for drinking such a large amount each day.
Ultimately, toxins are excreted through your stool and urine. Constipation, darker urine, and less urination occur when you don’t drink enough water. As a result, your health and mind will suffer if your detoxification system is not functioning optimally. As part of the program, you may also experience withdrawal symptoms from addictive substances or food allergies when you drink water, especially during preparation week.
These symptoms will be discussed in more detail in chapter 18, where we discuss the preparation week. In addition to microbes, pesticides, plastics, metals, chlorine, fluoride, and other toxins, much of our water supply is contaminated. Therefore, drinking water from the tap is not ideal. Water that has been filtered is the most suitable to drink. Several inexpensive and common filters are available, such as Brita’s carbon filters. The UltraMind Solution Companion Guide offers suggestions for water filters.
Microbes, pesticides, metals, and other toxins can be removed from water with a reverse osmosis filter. If you want to install it under the sink, you can do so. This is a very effective filtering system (and it’s cheaper in the long run). Phthalates and bisphenol A are toxic petrochemicals found in plastic water bottles. As a result, it is best to stay away from them. It is acceptable to drink mineral water or still water in glass bottles.

2. Chemicals and metals should be kept to a minimum.

Despite being neither practical nor realistic, doing all the things on the following list is what is optimal for our health. Make the most of what you can. You can find alternatives to the water you drink, get an air filter, or get rid of mold and other sources of indoor air pollution (garden and household chemicals, and artificial lighting). Phthalates are present in plastic bottles, so avoid drinking water from them.
The best way to get clean water is to drink it from a glass bottle or to filter your tap water as I explained earlier. Do not expose yourself to excessive levels of petrochemicals and toxins (garden chemicals, dry cleaning, car exhaust, secondhand smoke). Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons found in charbroiled foods are cancer-causing. You should avoid microwaved food because it produces more AGEs or advanced glycation end products and causes more inflammation and oxidative stress.
Reduce dust, mold, volatile organic compounds (off-gasses from synthetic carpets, furniture, and paints), and other indoor air pollutants by using HEPA/ULPA filters and ionizers. You can detoxify the air by having house plants. Reduce heavy metal exposure by reducing intake or exposure to large predatory and river fish, water, lead paint, thimerosal-containing products, and silver fillings.
The most common poisoning in America is carbon monoxide poisoning, which is due to the release of carbon monoxide from heating systems. Avoid toxic household and personal care products such as aluminum underarm deodorants, antacids, petrochemical- or toxin-containing creams and cosmetics, and pots and pans. Whenever possible, use subdued full-spectrum, or natural incandescent bulbs or candlelight. Avoid or minimize exposure to bright or fluorescent lights.
Despite being neither practical nor realistic, doing all the things on the following list is what is optimal for our health. Make the most of what you can.

3. Make sure your body fluids are moving.

You can include the following in your UltraMind program in addition to exercise, which is a powerful natural detoxifier. Toxins can only be eliminated from the body through urine, stool, and sweat. Have one to two bowel movements a day to facilitate excretory functions. Keep your urine clear by drinking six to eight glasses of water a day. Exercise and the use of steam baths and saunas will cause you to sweat regularly and profusely. The UltraBath can also be used. The soft-belly breathing technique can be learned and practiced.

4. Electropollution and electromagnetic radiation should be reduced.

It is not an ideal world in which we live. Exposure to electromagnetic radiation cannot be eliminated. There is still a raging debate. It would be helpful if more research was conducted on the harm caused by EMR. Nevertheless, the absence of evidence does not prove absence. There is no evidence that electromagnetic fields are harmful, nor are they safe, just because we haven’t proven it beyond doubt.
If we don’t have clear evidence of safety, I recommend erring on the side of caution rather than waiting forty years as we did with cigarettes. EMR risks can be minimized by following these steps. Make the best of it. Avoid using wireless communication devices, including cell phones, cordless phones, and WiFi devices, as much as possible.
When you are not using your cell phone or sleeping, turn it off. Do not use it to play games, watch movies, or keep it near your head. Whenever you are talking, texting, or downloading, keep your cell phone at least six to seven inches away from your body. When talking, use an air-tube headset or speaker mode. Radiation may still be conducted by wireless and wired headsets. Cell phones should not be kept in pockets or on hips all day. EMR can damage your hip bone marrow, which produces 80 percent of the body’s red blood cells. Fertility may also be affected by proximity to your genitals. Cell phones should not be used by children or pregnant women.
Whenever possible, replace cordless and WiFi items with wired, corded lines (phones, Internet, games, appliances, devices, etc.). Reduce the amount of time you spend on your computer. It is best to sit as far away from the screen as possible; flat screens are preferable. Connect to the Internet through a wired connection rather than through WiFi, especially if you are using a laptop.
Sleep, home, and personal zones should have low EMR. Make sure your alarm clock radio is at least three feet away from your head or use a battery-powered one; six feet is the recommended distance from all electronic devices while you are sleeping. Electromagnetic frequencies are attracted to water beds, electric blankets, and metal frames. Metal-coiled mattresses and box springs are better than futons and wood-framed beds. Whenever possible, use back burners instead of front burners when using electric stoves. EMR is attracted to metals: keep them away from your body and off your skin.
Using appropriate meters, measure EMR from wireless and wired devices. Electrical circuits, devices, and appliances can be filtered using EMR filters and preventive technologies to decrease exposures. Despite limited human studies, these may be helpful. As I have explained, the UltraMind Solution is based on a number of key principles. The focus is on a diet, supplements, lifestyle changes, and living a green and healthy life.
