Introduction:
Blind Lake or Zharba Tso is a picturesque lake located between Skardu and Shigar the land of K2. Hence, Zharba means “Blind” and Tso means “Lake.” For adventure lovers, it is a hidden gem and a priceless pearl. The most fascinating aspect of this lake is that it is located on the legendarily dangerous route of K-2, the world’s second-highest mountain.
Shigar residents use the lake as a water reservoir. There are numerous activities you can relish at the lake, but walking on lush green grass and sand is a popular activity for visitors. Moreover, many of the eight-thousander mountains can be found in the Shigar region. K-2, the world’s second-highest mountain, is one of them. Location:
Despite the fact that this lake is located in the District of Shigar. Blind Lake is located 28km away from the center of Skardu City on the way to Lamsa Valley of Shigar District. From Skardu, it takes about 40 to 45 minutes to get there. Despite being bumpy, dusty, and trek-shaped, the road is well worth seeing. The Blind Lake is a hidden gem hidden between the mountains and the Sarafaranga Desert.
Blind Lake’s water source
Despite the fact that Lake has no direct source of water. Perhaps, this lake’s main water source is the mighty Indus River running just half a mile away. Famous Indus and Shigar rivers surround the lake on both sides. It is possible that both rivers fed the water to this lake. But, the exact source is not confirmed yet.
History of Blind Lake
The Zjarba Tso Lake has an interesting history dating back to the 16th century. When a local herder was trying to locate a lost goat, thus, he discovered it. As time passed, traders stopped here to rest and resupply along the ancient Silk Road trade route.

During the winter, Blind Lake’s temperature ranges from 8 to 3 degrees Celsius. Between January and March, snowfall is expected. The coldest month is January, with nighttime temperatures of -25 degrees Celsius.

In general, Blind Lake does not have a source of water supply or discharge. This lake is named blind lake because the water does not flow and remains stagnant.

It is a great experience to camp in this area. There is no better place to camp after a spectacular sunset than next to the blind lake. For the camping trip, we recommend packing light but warm clothing. The area is quite cold at night even in summer.
