Bowman Lake, the longest unbroken stretch of water is a place you can visit if you want to experience nature in its purest form. Surrounded by mountains, it offers a unique view that only Montana’s Rocky Mountains can provide. Bowman Lake is in the western part of Glacier National Park in Montana. The 6.7-mile (10 km) unpaved road that leads to Bowman Lake from the town of Polebridge is long and windy. The roughly 1,700-acre 690-ha lake is the third-largest in the park after Lake McDonald and St. Mary Lake.
Bowman Lake Rocks is well located next to the shore, and the trees in the forest give the site privacy. Campground users are able to access the picnic ground, and several hiking trails can be found within the area. Fishing, canoeing, and kayaking are also popular on the lake, which is of a frigid temperature. Mercury-powered boats of less than 10 horsepower (7 kW) may be navigated on the lake. Due to the long road, recreational vehicles and truck/trailer combinations are not recommended.
