Abu Dhabi Corniche
There is a Corniche in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates. At approximately 8 kilometers, in length, the Abu Dhabi Corniche is easily reached. Across the entire length of the city’s northwest shore, the waterfront Corniche stretches with beaches of white sand and wide promenades.
It is also providing a breathtaking view of the iconic high-rise building complexes along the seafront. In addition, the Corniche offers many recreational opportunities with a dedicated walking and cycling path that weaves in and out of the landscaped gardens and playgrounds, as well as restaurants, fountains, cafés, and the magical Corniche beach.
On the western part of the road, there are public beaches where refreshments can be obtained. There is a narrow road that leads to the Marina Mall across from the Corniche. Marina Mall holds the record for having the tallest flagpole in the world, with the UAE flag flying as high as 22 meters.
Abu Dubai Corniche Beach
The blue-flagged spotlessly maintained several entrances. Amidst a capital city, it is an unexpected pleasure to be able to enjoy the turquoise sea, views of Lulu Island, and palm trees. Lifeguards provide service until sunset. The beautiful beach was present at the current site of the Corniche before the 1970s, where dhows and ships used to anchor and transport cargo; the area now occupied by the Corniche was not yet developed.
You may want to spend some time at this immaculate beach if you are looking to enjoy Abu Dhabi’s famed year-round sunshine. The beach is not just known for its turquoise water and white sand shores, but also for its beautifully manicured walks along the seaside, which lead to benches located along the Arabian Gulf. It’s not safe to swim beyond 40 meters because of floating fences, although the beach is pretty much open at all times.
Sunsets and sunrises are perfect photo opportunities, so be sure to bring your phone or camera along. Every month, more than 40,000 visitors converge on the Corniche beach, which is divided into three sections by two kilometers of sandy coast:
A family-friendly gate with a quiet zone, Gate 2 is a perfect choice.
For families and children, Gate 3 is an excellent option.
There is no charge for the fourth gate, also known as the Al Sahil gate, which allows singles and large groups to enter.
A fence shields the view of the latter two beaches. A fee is charged for the use of sun loungers and umbrellas. The facility offers showers, changing rooms, and cabanas.
Within a five-minute walk of the beach, there are more than 1,100 free parking spaces, and entry into the family and singles areas costs AED 10. Entry to the public beach is free. You can tour the Corniche by bicycle, which is a fun and healthy way to travel.
An island reclaimed from the sea, Lulu Island is about one kilometer from the corniche. It is located at the end of the corniche south of the Emirates Palace Hotel. Newer taller skyscrapers are being built on the southern end of the corniche, as well as many skyscrapers along the corniche. A lady’s beach used to be on Abu Dhabi’s Corniche, but it was closed a few years ago so the government could build a palace.
