Storage should be done correctly

  1. A plastic bag should never be used to store leather because it needs to breathe.
  2. Belts can be hung in your closet or rolled into cloth bags.
  3. Fabric clothing bags are recommended for storing leather garments.
  4. Soft handbags can be kept in shape by filling them with newspaper.

Garments made of Leather

  • Intense sunlight can cause leather items to become mottled if left out for a long time.
  • In some cases, the leather may even release toxic compounds when exposed to heat sources, such as the sun or a heat source. Allow wet leather to dry at room temperature rather than near a heat source or the sun.
  • The nap of suede can be lifted by brushing it well after it has dried.
  • Rub dirty collars and cuffs with a rubber or suede eraser.
  • Milk can be used to clean white leather.

Bags and belts

  • Occasionally wipe colored leather belts and bags with a damp cloth and let them dry at room temperature. They may lose their color if they are exposed to direct sunlight.
  • Milk and mineral spirits can be used to clean dusty, dirty leather suitcases. Castor oil should be applied generously to leather suitcases in order to preserve them. After soaking for a few hours, buff it with a soft cloth.
  • Use one teaspoon (5 ml) of methylated spirits mixed with one cup (250 ml) of water to clean a leather briefcase.
  • Unscented talcum powder can be used to remove grease spots from coated leather.

Gloves

Make black leather gloves shine by rubbing them with the inside of a banana skin. Suede gloves should be cleaned with soap and water, along with some ammonia. You must squeeze gloves out of the water by hand, then lay them flat to dry.
Make old leather gloves more flexible by rubbing them with castor oil. To stretch tight gloves, soak them in damp cloths for a few hours, then place them on while they’re still damp. Leaving them on for a few minutes is all that’s needed for them to dry.

Leather gloves should be washed

Make sure the leather can be washed first. Dishwashing liquid and warm water should be added to a basin. Soften and supple the leather by adding some glycerin. Therefore, wash all leather gloves in soapy water after putting them on. After rinsing with tap water, remove and dry flat on a towel at room temperature. To complete the drying process, knead them softly and lay them flat once they are half-dry.

Recap

The first step in caring for leather is to clean it regularly with a damp cloth using mild soap. This will remove any dust or dirt that may have accumulated on the surface of the leather and will also remove any oil from your skin that can cause stains on the surface of the leather.
If you are going to use water, it is best if you first test it on an inconspicuous area of the leather before you proceed. If there are no adverse reactions, then go ahead and wet a cloth with water and wipe down your product. To dry your product, make sure you pat it dry with a cloth rather than rubbing it, because rubbing can cause dirt particles to embed themselves into the pores of the leather, which can lead to discoloration or premature wear over time.
